A study lead by Riechman took 25 men and 30 women who filed out food diaries of what they ate and followed them over 12 weeks in conjunction with a resistance training program.
The researchers assessed the relationship between dietary cholesterol and gains in muscle mass. At the end of the study, the average dietary cholesterol intake was strongly associated with the change in lean mass.

Although dietary protein was correlated with dietary cholesterol, PROTEIN BY ITSELF WAS NOT SIGNIFICANT WITH CHANGE IN LEAN MUSCLE MASS.
The scientists in this research found that cholesterol NOT protein was associated with changes in lean muscle mass!

This means that fat free stuff, relying on PROTEIN SHAKES, and taking the Cholesterol free EGG BEATERS that only contain the egg whites and not the YOLK (where the good ol’ cholesterol is) will NOT DO JACKSH*T for your muscle! UNLESS!!

You are on ANABOLIC STEROIDS! Yup, since anabolic steroids will not require you to take in precursors for natural muscle gain- so If you are on gear- GO! Miss out on all the cholesterol you want. If you are a sedentary SLOB! What is the use of eating extra cholesterol if your body is not undergoing intense training? Your body will only stick those onto your blood vessel linings.
So it is NOT cholesterol that KILLS americans! It is the SEDENTARY life that KILLS americans and other Americanized lazy people who have NO TIME to work out. Rest in peace, people.
Another interesting part of this research is that the people in Statins gained more muscle mass.
That must be because statins are known to produce muscle damage- since we know that muscle damage leads to growth- then taking statins with your training and cholesterol regimen will surely lead to more growth.
But no thanks for now; the Ironthumb method does not require you take statins, just good old intense training scientifically designed for you and research-supported diet and principles like this one.
And I know for a fact that this guy LOVES cholesterol! But he also loves pumping iron AND if doesnt HAVE time or MONEY to pay the gym- he does some handstand pushups and wrestling bridges at home. Take a look at what cholesterol did to this fellow:
Not bad is it? I can tell that he didn’t get fat at all, and his blood pressure is 110/80- very very normal.
But if you are receiving Statins as a maintenance drug you MAY be receiving a training advantage but because statins can cause more muscle damage- you may want to cut back a little bit on your training volume.
